RAILMARK INDUSTRIAL SWITCHING, INC. (RIS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Railmark Holdings Inc., is a FULL SERVICE industrial switching provider. RIS understands the service demands required by plants on its industrial switching operations and designs a specialized package of services to maximize plant through-put and connecting railroad efficiencies, while reducing railcar costs and reporting burdens.
RIS has extensive experience in both common carrier railroad operations and industrial switching operations and can design a complete, one-stop package of services including:
Railcar Switching
RIS works with the customer to design a service schedule around the needs of the plant, increasing railcar utilization, making connections with the serving carriers and proving timely reporting.
Locomotives
RIS has locomotives available to place into service on short notice. RIS can also purchase the plant’s existing locomotive. RIS can supply switchers, remote control locomotives with automatic stopping devices, and trackmobiles.
Track Inspection & Repair
The service package RIS provides can include track inspection services, on-going maintenance, and track construction and improvements.
Crews
RIS will supply experienced crews and implement a “Continuous Quality Improvement Program” designed to provide on-going training, efficiency and safety programs. Depending upon the operating environment, RIS can offer one-man-report control crews, two man crews or three man crews for the most active operations. RIS’s crews can be represented or non-represented, depending upon the plant’s labor requirements.
Event Reporting
RIS’s service package embraces technology and can offer simple event reporting up to integrated railcar and yard management reporting, inventory reporting, and connecting carrier delivery/receipt reporting.
Railcar Repairs
For those plants that utilize owned or leased railcars and are responsible for repairs, RIS’s service plan can provide for preventative maintenance and inspection services in order to reduce the costs of repairs made by outside railroads.
Other Logistics Services
RIS systems can track and trace railcar movements to and from customers – intercepting when delayed, provide rail-to-truck transfer services, coordinate warehousing and storage, and arrange for short-term or long-term railcar supply.
Single Point of Contact
RIS will assign an overall relationship manager to the customer to provide for efficient communications.
